Biological Cell Regulation

BCR (Biological Cell Regulation) is a treatment modality which aims to regulate disrupted cell metabolism back to its normal level. It is a treatment system developed and trademarked in Germany in the year 2002.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ABOUT BCR 
BCR does not work in the same manner as the usual rehabilitation systems like TENS, Ultrasound, Shockwave and several other systems used in hospitals. While most conventional therapies work on the pain gate theory to distract pain messages flowing to the brain, BCR works directly at the cellular level alleviating pain by way of regulating cell metabolism. This is certainly the more wholistic way to treat.
Another feature that distinguishes BCR from normal therapies is the use of bio-cybernetics to automate the treatments.


CELL METABOLISM
As we know all living organisms are made of cells. Groups of different types of cells make up the organs and the entire organism. Cell metabolism is the chemical processes happening within each cell which is responsible for the healthy functioning of the organ and the organism as a whole.
All healthy cells need energy which is derived from the nutrients in the food digested in our stomach. These nutrients carried in our blood enters the cell through the cell membrane through the process of diffusion and are converted into energy by the chemical processes in the cell, that is cell metabolism. In short, cell metabolism produces the energy needed for the healthy functioning of the organs and the organism as a whole.


CELL METABOLISM - DISORDER
Let us look at the relationship between cell metabolism and ailments. This will help us understand the therapeutic benefits of regulating cell metabolism.
During ailments cell metabolism is found to be in disorder. It is seen that injuries, infections and inflammations cause shifts in cell metabolism towards hypo or hyper states. Hypo metabolic states are seen in degenerative conditions with too little energy and activity at the tissue level. Hyper metabolic states are common during acute inflammatory stages with too much energy and activity at the tissue level. Thus, the well-known applications of cold and heat (Yin & Yang in TCM) during treatments, cold being applied to cool down hyper metabolic state and heat being applied to stimulate hypo metabolic state.


VOLL’S THEORY 
The treatment method in BCR system is inspired by Dr Voll’s theory linking bioelectrical measurements to the pathology in the body. A reading of bioelectric impedance is taken between 25kΩ to 600kΩ. The treatment target is to achieve the resistance of 95kΩ which represents the balanced energy point where cell metabolism is optimised and the body is able to self-heal and self-repair the affected tissue, organ or organism as a whole. Pain conditions are also symptoms of deviations from balanced energy points. Therefore, regulating deviated energy points back to the balanced point of 95kΩ help in alleviating pain problems, in addition to also accelerating the body’s ability to self-heal and self-repair.


CELL METABOLISM – THERAPEUTIC APPROACH
This theory points to the causative role of cell metabolic disorders to ailments, in addition to anatomical and physiological changes. It then becomes useful to also appreciate the curative role of regulating cell metabolism. This gives the opportunity of an alternative therapeutic approach as a valuable adjunct to conventional methods.

BCR treatments are fully supported by evidence-based clinical studies conforming to medical device registration standards of Germany. However, BCR treatments are considered ‘Alternative Medicine’ in Asia because the subject is not taught in Asian medical schools yet. It is not due to the lack of evidence-based clinical studies.
BCR treatments has had extensive clinical experience with Medical Doctors in European countries for over 18 years, and in Asian countries UAE, India, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Philippines for nearly 14 years.


BCR BIO-CYBERNETICS
A unique distinguishing feature found in BCR systems is the application of bio-cybernetics which has more than two decades of research and discoveries in the area of neurophysiology. BCR system has the ability to read electrical resistance, and through this reading, to interpret cell metabolic disorders. With this biological feedback the BCR system has built-in algorithms to automatically deliver a mix of treatments aimed at regulating disruptions to cell metabolism. This built-in algorithm uses the following treatment parameters:
• Currents from 10 to 999 μA in 1 μA steps
• Pulse frequencies of 0.1 Hz to 1 kHz in 0.1 Hz steps
• Rise time of the preset current from 0.1 to 1.0 sec (Amplitude modulation of the current output from 10 to 100% within the selected time in 10% steps)
This bio-cybernetic system reduces the need for human skill, and consequently reduces human errors. It also helps in standardising treatment results and in making treatments easily scalable.

The relationship between cell metabolism and ailments is a new concept derived from old holistic concepts that focus on enhancing the body’s ability to self-heal.
